Natural Hair Care for Beginners

5 Steps/Products you can begin with:

NB: These products would be my preferred choice if I were to start my natural hair journey again. However, some of these products may not necessarily get on with everyone as we are all so unique so please do some swaps if need be.

Step 1: African black soap shampoo - break the soap into small pieces (you only need a small amount for each wash day), put the pieces in a bottle and pour water on it (warm or cold water). The soap will desolve and you will have your shampoo. Simples. You can buy the soap from amazon

Step 2: After rinsing your shampoo out, apply Shea moisture daily hydration conditioner.  Finger detangle your hair. Leave in between 3-5mins and rise. Again amazon sells it.

Step3: Apply Shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil strengthen & restore leave-in-conditioner. To be left in your hair . Amazon

Step 4: Apply your scalp oil, mix jojoba oil, vitamin E oil and lavender essential oil in an applicator bottle, apply it to your scalp and massage your scalp for a few minutes. Head massage promotes blood circulation which helps the activities underneath the scalp to work well and to do what they are supposed to do which is to grow your hair!!!!

Step 5: apply your hair moisturiser (Shea Butter) to lock in the moisture leaving your hair hydrated.

Put your hair in a protective hair styling i.e. twist or braids or cornrows done!

Additional information:

Please make sure your hair is not left dry, spray your hair with water or  If you want to go one step further,  spray it with rice water. When your hair retains moisture, it reduces excess hair shedding and hair breakage.

Cover your hair with a silk bonnet or a silk head scarf when going to bed. Silk material reduces hair breakage. Personally, I don’t wash my hair every week because I don’t have the time to. However, I have recently been standing under the shower when I sense my hair is dry and I will saturate my hair in water. I will also massage my scalp whilst under the shower. If you notice your scalp is dirty then I would encourage you to wash your hair to avoid product build up from clogging your pores.

I aim to wash my hair every couple of weeks as that suits my lifestyle.

I will stop here as I do not want to overwhelm you.

P.S. I have hyperlinked the products so it takes you directly to the products I am referring to on Amazon!
